Mental Health Resources for Union Members

Because we’re all in this together.

At IUPAT District Council 17, we know that working in the trades can be demanding - physically, mentally, and emotionally. But no one should have to face those challenges alone. Whether you’re struggling, supporting a coworker, or just need someone to talk to, help is always available.

We’re all here for each other. Reaching out is a sign of strength.

🧰 IUPAT Helping Hand

Working in the building and construction trades is a challenging career. There are high productivity demands, strict safety requirements, and often dangerous working conditions if guidelines aren’t followed.
But there are also other, quieter risks like suicide and substance use disorder. Construction workers are three times more likely to take their own life than the general population.

The IUPAT Helping Hand initiative provides resources, downloadable posters, and information to help employers, coworkers, and family members recognize the signs of suicidal ideation and substance use.
Its goal is to prevent suicide and encourage members to reach out for help.
