Training and Certification Portal
District Council 17 is committed to supporting the growth, safety, and long-term success of our members. This portal allows both members and signatory contractors to request training or upload updated certifications to help keep worker records accurate and ensure the right skills are available across our job sites.
Training requests should be based on the courses listed on the Training Calendar located on the News & Events page.
Certification updates may be submitted at any time.
All submissions are reviewed by the DC17 Training Team in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), Training Trust Fund policies, and eligibility requirements.
Request Training
Members and contractors may request scheduled training courses posted on our Training Calendar. Once submitted, the Training Team will confirm space availability, eligibility, and whether the course is covered under the CBA.
Training Covered Under the CBA
Approved training programs identified in the CBA may be covered for members when:
-
The request is submitted by a signatory contractor, or
-
The member has an active dispatch to work for a signatory employer
Coverage is subject to verification by the Training Team.
Update or Upload Certifications
Members are encouraged to upload new or updated certifications so that DC17 records remain accurate, and so signatory contractors have access to current qualifications when requesting workers.
We strongly recommend uploading all certifications, not only those related directly to your trade. Many contractors seek specialized credentials—such as rope access, equipment training, safety tickets, and other industry or vendor-specific certifications. Uploading these additional qualifications can increase your work opportunities and may place you ahead of members who do not hold them.
Please upload one certification per submission using the form below. This allows our team to validate and record each document accurately.
All certifications will be reviewed and added to your member record once validated.
Eligibility for Union-Covered Training
Eligibility for covered training varies depending on employment status, certification type, and the CBA.
Important Eligibility Note:
Members not currently working for a signatory contractor may still be eligible for Union-covered training if they:
-
Have worked 1,000 hours or more within the past 12 months in a DC17 jurisdiction, and
-
Are a member in good standing
Members who do not meet these requirements may still participate in training but may be required to self-pay or obtain employer approval, depending on the program.
Final eligibility and cost coverage will always be confirmed by the DC17 Training Team.
