Union Meetings: The Heart of Union Democracy
Union meetings are more than just routine gatherings - they are a key part of how we function as a democratic, member-led organization. These meetings provide a space for members to:
-
Stay informed about collective bargaining updates, training opportunities, job calls, and industry changes.
-
Ask questions and raise concerns about workplace issues, contracts, or safety.
-
Vote on critical matters like contract ratifications, bylaw changes, elections, and financial decisions.
-
Hear from leadership about the direction of the Union and future goals.
-
Build solidarity by connecting with fellow members, sharing experiences, and standing together.
Regular participation strengthens your voice and helps ensure that decisions reflect the will and needs of the membership. When you show up, you shape the future of your Union. Whether you're new to the trades or a seasoned member, your presence matters.
Join us and be part of building a stronger, more informed, and united Union.
DC17 Monthly Meetings
Union meetings are held monthly and give members a key opportunity to stay informed, raise concerns, and help shape the direction of our Union.
When: 4th Thursday of every month at 6:30 PM MST / 7:30 PM CST
Who: All Locals meet together as DC17
How to attend (hybrid):
-
In person: Our Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg Halls are open to host these meetings. We encourage in-person attendance whenever possible.
-
Online: Meetings are also hosted on Microsoft Teams. Invites are emailed to all active members the week prior, and you’ll receive a text reminder on meeting day.
-
If any Hall is closed on a meeting night, we’ll send a notice in advance.
Financial Reports:
Reports are presented on a staggered basis by Local and will not be included at every meeting. Members will be notified in advance when their Local’s report is scheduled.
These meetings are your chance to hear updates, vote on important decisions, and connect with fellow members. Your voice matters; make it heard by attending your monthly Union meeting.
